New Instructor at Karori

Email Print

Congratulations to Mr Malcolm Doidge, who has been made an instructor for the Karori School.

Mr Doidge has been training consistently at Karori since the school opened, and has helped out Mr Mellsop on many occasions, assisting during class and also often taking class when Mr Mellsop was not available. In Mr Mellsop's words: "Mr Doidge has proven himself, not unexpectedly, as a very capable individual who reflects the quality and passion that we seek in our instructors here at Spirit."

Of course Mr Doidge recently earned his 1st Degree Black Belt, and on doing so was asked by Mr Mellsop whether he was interested in becoming an 'official' instructor for the school. Mr Doidge readily agreed to do so.

The official announcement was made to the students of Karori School at training on Monday 1st February.

Mr Malcolm Doidge joined the original Brooklyn Taekwon-Do club, with his 2 children, in 2005. Beginning as a white belt, Mr Doidge graded to 1st Dan in 2009.

In 2010, after a long association with Spirit Karori and its instructor Mr Darcy Mellsop, Mr Doidge was recruited by Mr Mellsop to the position of co-instructor within Spirit Karori.

Mr Doidge shares Mr Mellsop's enthusiasm for fitness and having fun doing Taekwon-Do. He is also committed to instructing that focuses on students and helping them achieve their goals.

Mr Doidge illustrated the ITFNZ Taekwon-Do 'Minikids' syllabus book and also helped develop its content. The syllabus is used by Mrs Miller in her 'Kids class' and in Do Jangs around New Zealand.

He trains at Spirit Karori with his wife, Mrs Anne Greenwood, who is also the 'Spirit' groups board secretary.

What Our People Say

Taekwon-Do has been incredible for me. I can attribute much of my confidence, personal growth and professional growth to the discipline, work ethic and focus on continuous improvement which Taekwon-Do installs.
